Hello, 1. I'm trying to book train tickets from Milan to Interlaken, the SBB website requires the ticket to be collected at Switzerland counter or to be shipped. Beside this and raileurope.com, do i have other alternatives to book ticket directly online?
2. Since i'll be only 2 days in Switzerland, is it worth to buy the Swiss Pass? Or better get point to point ticket? Milan-Interlaken Around Interlaken Interlaken-Lucerne Lucerne-Engelberg-Mt Titlis Lucerne-Paris
If i come down early from Mt Titlis, perhaps i will visit Zurich around 3 hrs before heading back to Lucerne. Highly appreciate some feedback.
Thanks

Hi, I have 2 days in Switz and i wish to cover Interlaken and Lucerne. I'll be arriving Interlaken around 10:30am from Milan on 19/6 and wish to depart from Interlaken around 4-5pm to Lucerne. I need some suggestion on the attactions that i can cover within that timeframe. Among the places i googled and from people's feedback are Grindelwald/Kleine Scheidigg/Schynig Platte/HaedarKlumn/Lake Brienz/Lake Thun and Brienz.
I wont be going to Jungfaugh as i will be visiting Mt Titlis the next day.
Thanks.

I just have a comment - The Bernina Express timetable for winter is not updated as of my last access yesterday ( our local time). Do you know when they usually update this?

Hi bsilver,
The Swiss Card allows you to interrupt your trip. You can best travel via Lauterbrunnen when going up and down the Jungfrau. Put your luggage in a locker there and change to Mürren on the way back. There's no need to go back to Interlaken again when you want to go to Mürren. That would be a detour.
Yes, the STS Family Card is available at the rail station of Zurich airport.

Thanks again. We only have 3 days in the Jungfrau region. The first day we arrive is my birthday and the Jungfrau railway offers a special price of 80 chf for two persons if one is traveling on his/her birthday. So, this would be our preferred day to travel to the top of europe. If we are traveling by train from Zurich airport using the Swiss Card, can we get off at Interlocken OST and take the Jungfrau railway to the top of europe and then resume our Swiss Card transfer to Murren (which is our destination)? The website says the initial transfer from Airport to resort/destination must be in one day and must be the most "direct" route--but it doesn't say clearly whether the traveler can interrupt that first leg of the transfer.
Secondly, if the Swiss Card will allow us to interrupt our transfer and get off at Interlocken to take the Jungfraujoch trip, can we check our luggage at the Interlaken OST railway station while we take the round trip to the Jungfraujoch?
Thirdly, the website also indicates that one can purchase the Swiss Card and receive the free STS Family Card at a Swis train station upon arrival in Switzerland. So do I assume correctly that this will be available at the Zurich Airport rail station when we arrive @ noon on Sunday, June 3?

Dear visitors. We are sorry to let you know that the technical errors haven't been solved by STC yet. They are still working on it. We will let you know as soon as the problems are fixed. Although we can't do much about it, we do apologize for the inconvenience. The 2 for 1 regional pass promotion is a great deal and we hope you're able to order again as soon as possible.

Hi bsilver! Yes, you'll also receive a 50% discount on the Jungfraujoch trip. You can download a validity map from the Swiss Card page, showing the area of validity. This also shows that discounts are available for lots of cable cars and mountain trains in the Jungfrau region. So if I were you, I wouldn't rent a car. It's really not convenient in Mürren and surroundings. Moreover, the Swiss Card allows dicounts on public transportation (it would be a waste not to use them) and the train system is very well organised.
If you want your son to travel along for free, you should indeed get a free STS Family Card. Depending on the reseller your choose (just enter your country of residence in the upper right corner of the Swiss Card page), you can order this along online or you can get it for free at a Swiss railway station.

Hello sachin! Yes, your trips look fine and it's a doable schedule. I still advise not to book your tickets in advance, but if you do want to pre-book them you can do so through the timetable. Just enter a trip, choose a connection, click 'Fare/Buy' and follow the steps in the order procedure.

Hello marino, and welcome to MySwissAlps. I'm glad you like it!
You can best use your 4 free travel days for day 2 (meaning you have to buy regular tickets for day 1), day 4, day 5 and day 6 (buying regular tickets form Lucerne to the Swiss border on day 7). No, you don't have to use a free travel day to profit from the discount to visit the Jungfraujoch. You'll receive your Riviera Card upon arrival in the hotel - provided that your hotel participates in this deal. Please find more information at the Riviera Card website. There are two ways up to Mürren from Lauterbrunnen: either by cable car and train via Grütschalp (this is the default connection displayed in the timetable) or by bus and cable car via Stechelberg.
The rest of your travel schedule seems fine to me, but it is quite full. It's best to check the timetable I mentioned for all trips to see whether they're too long in your opinion. Personally, I would prefer to spend more time in Mürren as it's such a wonderful region. This can well be combined with a visit to Lucerne. On the other hand, if you aim to see as much of the country as possible, your train trips to Lugano and St. Moritz are a good choice.

Hi! We are a couple that will be traveling in September by train from La Spezia, Italy to Murren, and staying for 3 nights. We then are traveling by train to Munich. We plan to purchase the Swiss Pass 2 for 1 deal. I have 3 questions hopefully you can help answer: 1. The Train route from Italy goes through Milan, then Domodossola. Will the travel portion from Domodossola forward be free with the Swiss Pass? 2. I am struggling with planning the route from Murren to Munich to take advantage of the Swiss Pass. What would be the best route to minimize costs and take advantage of the pass? 3. Finally, could you confirm knowing our travel plans that it indeed does make sense to purchase the Swiss Pass. Thanks much Skip

Together, with no previous travel within the country and not knowing anyone who has visited Switzerland,It makes planning my trip easier by using this forum. So,thanks to all who help me with my queries.

Thank you for your reply. I have more questions, if you would be so kind. First, will the Swiss Card offer a 50% discount also on the trip to Jungfraujoch? Second, do i need to get another card (family card??) to enable my son to travel free with us? Third, if I rent a car and drive to the Jungfrau area, are there any tourist discounts available for rail travel in the Jungfrau region, once we get there?
thank you.

Hi Ashwin,
The trips are quite similar I guess. The 3-night trip through the link I provided can be extended with a night (or more nights) and then it adds up to the same amount as the 5-night trip you linked to. It's one night less but you'll be able to get the extra discount I explained about, and you get 50% discounts on trips that are not in the package. I don't see that mentioned for the package you linked to. So it's a matter of number of nights versus budget I think.
Many hotels do provide a free local "guest card" that includes free traveling in a small region around the hotel. Most towns have local passes as well such as the Zurich Card, but you would have to buy them. It's worth the money if you don't get a discount otherwise and do quite some traveling. edited by modarno on May 15, 2012

2 for 1 offer Swiss Saver (Flexi) Pass

Hi Daniel,
On the right of the Swiss Flexi Pass page, you can select any of the 3, 4, 5 or 6 day passes and your country to get a list of resellers and prices. The 2-for-1 offer is just for 4-day passes. Please see my initial post for details on that offer.
If you have 2 days without traveling and perhaps 2 days with shorter trips (you'll get discounted tickets), the 4 free travel days may still suit your needs.

Hi Arno, I have shortlisted the tour as detailed in http://www.makemytrip.com/holidays-international/package?id=541&selectedResultPage=1&selectedResultIndex=10
But as part of this package description, it says, they provide a 5 day Swiss transfer card, and they also specify "After arriving at x station transfer to the hotel on your own". I think the reason for this is because the transfer card is only for travel between rail stations. If this is the case, are there any bus only passes for local travel available? Or is there any other better option?
Thanks, Ashwin
