Hi, First timer in Switzerland, hubby and are planning to visit Switzerland for 1 wk (July1-8). Considering our itinerary to be like this:
· July 1 : arrive in Zurich
- stay in Zurich for the night
· July 2: go to Lucern afternoon, stay the night, explore a bit of Lucern
· July 3: plan to go to Interlaken in theafternoon
- want to visit Jungfraughroch, do a cruise in one ofthe lakes
· July 7: go Geneva in the afternoon, stay the night, afternoon flight on July 8 – or we mightjust stay in Interlaken until july 8th,take the train to Geneva in the morning direct to the airport on the July 8th . Is this possible?
Is this doable? Is this too muchfor such a week? Any recommendation? Is Swiss Saver the best choice if wewant to go around? If we want to take the Golden Pass train from Lucern toInterlaken, do we buy the ticket for this route separately? How early should wemake reservation for the Golden pass route? Thank you very much.

Hello bethad, and welcome! Yes, your itinerary is definitely doable. You can plan all your trips and find out about traveling times using the
Swiss timetable
.
This day trip for the Interlaken region
may help you find out whether you want to spend the extra day in Interlaken or get to Geneva earlier. It could be an option to travel to Geneva on July 7 and enjoy this trip by taking the second part of the Golden Pass route between Interlaken and Montreux.
If you like the idea of free traveling, an
8 day Swiss Saver Pass
would be an ideal solution. An alternative would be the
Swiss Saver Flexi Pass
. You could opt for a 3 day Swiss Saver Flexi Pass, using free travel days for July 2, 3 and 7, and discounts for July 4, 5 and 6. The first day in Zurich could be covered by a
ZurichCard
.
With a valid Swiss Saver Pass or a free travel day on your Swiss Saver Flexi Pass, the trip itself in the Golden Pass trains will be for free. All you have to pay is an additional fee for your seat reservations. You can arrange for them about 2 to 3 months in advance. Please find more information at the
seat reservation page
.
