Rail Europe confirmed there’s a problem and they’re looking into it. If they contact us with any updates I will post here.

I am also having trouble purchasing my rail pass using the promo code. At what time (in which time zone), will the code expire?

    Hi Swtsorrow,

I don’t know the expiration time. I do know they’re working on it, so I hope they’ll extend the promo when it’s fixed. I’ll post here if there’s any news.

Rail Europe has fixed this now. They will extend the promo code 9ESS16 for a € 60 discount until August 12, 5 PM CET (note: minimum order value is € 800). The codes for the equivalent in your currency should continue to work too. Promo codes for lower discounts won’t be extended, and none of the codes for Hong Kong will be extended as the maximum number of codes has been used up there.

You can now try this at http://www.raileurope-world.com or one of the other websites mentioned in the very first post of this thread (not Hong Kong). Note that the extended promo is only for the people reporting the problem here, so you won’t find it advertised on their website anymore.

Please let me know if you succeeded. Thanks!

Hi Arno, I was able to complete the order for 2 adults 8 day swiss consecutive travel passes and it got processed and order confirmation as well. So when can I print the actual passes ? Ofcourse I did select Print at Home option, so are they going to send the actual passes by email ? If so usually when will they send it ? Thanks

The site did not accept the code 9ESS16 (for 60 euros), it only accepted 8ESS16 (it took off only 25 euros), is it amount dependent ? Mine was for 2 passes (670-25=645 euros was the total charged).

    Hi ceciliaggi,

You can buy a Swiss Travel Pass from any of the websites listed here. Websites for tickets from Paris are listed here. You can choose whether you buy the pass and the ticket from the same site or not.

    Hi Chandra,

You will receive the passes through e-mail soon. You did not get the € 60 discount because that’s for orders from € 800. You’re lucky you were still able to get the € 25 discount! That code should have been expired.

Thank you Arno for the clarification on the discount calculation. Yes I was lucky atleast to have got the 25, but may be it worked because the webiste was giving issues earlier, they must have extended this one too upto 12th.
