    We are traveling from Milan to Paris in September and would like to see the Swiss Alps via Bernina express. We have 2 nights allocated to Switzerland. Please suggest an itinerary for us to enjoy a bit of the country. Which trains do we take? Should we travel by air from Switzerland to Paris?

    Also, is the Eurail Select Pass a good option for us? We are spending 13 nights in Italy (Rome, Florence, Venice, Milan), 2 nights in Switzerland, 6 nights in France (Paris, Lourdes).

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

    Hi jlumbo, welcome to MySwissAlps!

    There are lots of alternatives for a 2 day itinerary, but if you want to enjoy the Bernina Express this could be an option:

    • day 1: travel from Milan to Tirano and board the Bernina Express up to St. Moritz. Stay overnight in St. Moritz or a nearby town;
    • day 2: explore the surroundings of St. Moritz in the morning and head for Zurich afterwards. Or, if weather isn’t that good, get to Zurich rightaway and explore the town for a while;
    • day 3: travel from Zurich to Paris. This can easily be done by train. Direct connections from Zurich to Paris only take about 4 hours. Please see http://www.myswissalps.com/tr aintickets/france for more information.

    A 4 country Eurail Select Pass is convenient for your plans; whether you’ll be traveling enough to justify its purchase should be calculted. Alternatively, you can look into the options for each country separately. These guidelines in determining which pass you need may be of help.
