    Hi all,

My wife and I are planning on visiting Switzerland for the first time.

-We get in Zurich* at 5pm on Nov. 30

-From reading the forums, seems like Lucerne should be our base as there is not much to do in Interlaken.

    – We leave from Zurich* at 6pm on Dec. 2.

We like enjoying the outdoors. Not big on nightlife. Open to ideas on areas we would be able to check out.

NOTE: If there are closer airports to Lucerne(to save time), we would be able to book flights from there.

    Thank you

    Hi Obaidkhan –

Glad to see you here. Welcome.

Here is a start on answers-

Lucerne is, indeed , a good base.

Zürich airport is the closest, and quite convenient. Two trips per hour, one does not require a change at Zürich main station. Short ride.

Have you discovered the timetable and relevant instructions?

You are right – that is slow season in the high Alps.

Thanks for the prompt response Slowpoke.

I have not looked at timetable yet, not sure which towns to see for such a short period of time and the slow season.

    Hi Obaidkhan –

The timetable will help you understand the trip from Zürich Airport to Luzern.

If you learn to use it in detail, you will find it helps a lot for trip planning.

Once you have listed journeys for your date and time,

click on the “+” sign to the left of any particular journey.

Then you can get a great deal of information about that journey, including a map, intermediate stops, train/bus/boat changes, food )(if any) on the train. etc.
