    Hi there

I’ll be in Basel for 3 days during the last week of October. It’s my first time there. I have several questions:

    1) what type of clothing should I bring?

    2) any recommendations as to hotels (are dorint en messe or das breite hotel any good, which is better)

    3) what’s the best way to get from the airport to the city center/hotels?

    Here is a start:

It’s been a while since I flew into Basel, but then there was a frequent shuttle bus to the main station. From there – cabs, trams, etc.

Here are some random links from Google searching –

Don’t miss the Tingueley Water Sculpture.

October will have cool days and cold nights, but you are far from Winter.

    Layers.

Do you plant to attend any special functions? If so, there may be dress codes.

    Hi ktorrevillas,

The shuttle bus Slowpoke mentioned is the best way to get to town from the airport. Please see myswissalps.com/ airports/basel.

The Dorint Hotel is close to the congress center, but not to the places in the town center you typically want to see as a tourist. Das Breite is not in the town center either. Basel is not huge, so a tram or bus will get you there fairly quickly, but personally I would prefer a hotel at walking distance from the center of town and the main train station: Basel SBB. The first page Slowpoke gave you helps you find a few good options.
