We are a family of father, mother and son. We, husband and wife are senior citizens. We are from India. We like to visit France,Switzerland and Italy. We are budget class people. We did not finalize any plan. We shall travel in 1st part of July. Previously we thought of only France and Italy. Now we find that we can make 3 days in Switzerland. We shall come from Paris to Switzerland and go to Venice. We need advices how and where we can spend three days in Switzerland, what to see, how to move and where to stay. We cannot move extensively, as both of us are old.

It will be better if we get advices about Italy also. We wish to stay 2 days in Venice, 2 days in Florence and 3 days in Rome.

    Hi Anjan, welcome to MySwissAlps!

There are lots of options, but an obvious one is to spend a few days in Lucerne (locally: Luzern). It’s a nice old town with museums, boat trips, and a lot to see and do in the surrounding mountains. Please see the link for hotel suggestions and activities. Does this match your expectations? Will you travel by train? There is a direct morning train from Lucerne to Milan, Italy, where you can change for Venice. Unfortunately I can’t provide further details about Italy.

Thanks for the advice. We shall stay in Luzern for one night to visit Mt Titlis. And as you advice, shall take train for Milan for going to Venice. But we still have one day in hand. What we can do near Zurich or Luzern? Any scenic train or is it possible to see Interlaken from Luzern? Need advice.

    Hi Anjan,

The link Annika gave you provides various suggestions for things to see and do. Did you look into that? The train ride from Lucerne to Interlaken is very nice. Interlaken itself is not worth your time; but the Jungfrau region just south of it is beautiful. It takes quite some time to do this as a day trip from Lucerne. There are many options closer to Lucerne, and indeed a day trip to Zurich is possible as well.

    Hi Anjan –

<<“but an obvious one is to spend a few days in Lucerne (locally: Luzern).”>>

Annika said it correctly. Excellent advice.

You can certainly see Interlaken from Luzern…but, you will quite probably be disappointed. It is not much of a sight seeing destination. Spend some time with this link.

And, is not a short trip.
