    Hi guys,

Change of plans. I have decided to just visit Zermatt for 4 nights, instead of moving up and down.

Please will someone help me as to which travel ticket i should get.

I plan to fly from London to Geneva. Then take train to Zermatt where we staying at a hotel near the ski resort by Matterhorn.

What train can i take to Zermatt? What’s the best travel pass I could use – Swiss Pass / Swiss Transfer Ticket / Swiss Half Fare Card for 4 nights?

    Thank you!

    Hello jung1991,

Thanks for your post! Your plans are doable, but not ideal to my taste. You would change base every day which means you need to spend a lot of time on traveling, packing, checking in/out of hotels and unpacking. I would advice to eliminate one or two towns to have more time left for activities and sightseeing.

Another tip is not to fly for such a short distance like Paris – Geneva and rather use the high speed TGV trains. You will see much more while traveling, it’s eco friendly, and it won’t take more time (perhaps even less). I would skip Geneva and take a TGV from Paris to Basel, then another train from Basel to Bern. There’s even a direct one, but it arrives late in the evening. Then proceed to Zermatt and finally Montreux. You could even skip Montreux and focus on two towns, which is not a bad idea with just a few days available.

    Thank you Arno!

I really appreciate that you replied my post. After reading it, it has given me a far far more better planning schedule.

Could I also please ask if I apply for an international driving license to drive around in the cities like Zermatt, would it be advisable or do you think the weather conditions would be terrible?

    King regards,

    Hi jung1991,

Assuming you will stay put in Zermatt for the 4 days, a Swiss Transfer Ticket is your best option. It’s valid for all trains to Zermatt, and back again to Geneva.
