If I stay in Adelboden, is it better to rent a car or get a train pass? There is a good priced apartment there.

How convenient is Adelboden for hiking?

There is no train service to Adelboden, only bus.

There are some hiking trails around Adelboden but, with no train service, it is a bit more remote than other popular hiking bases. It is a charming village.

A car is Switzerland is rarely a good idea. It is expensive, petrol is very costly, parking is difficult, driving in most towns/villages is harrowing, and many of the most beautiful places in the country can only be reached by public transport.

Tell us more about your plans, who is in your group, and what kind of hiking you want to do (and your experience level) and you will get more specific responses.
