    Hi,

My husband and I are travelling with 15 year old daughter to ski in Engelberg for 6 days. We want to get a train from Basel to Engelberg. We have seen this combined offer online, which seems like a good deal, however, I am advised that to get the best rate for our daughter I must first buy a Junior Railcard for CHF 30- . Also there is a mention of loading the ski pass onto a Skicard which costs CHF5, each. I had been hoping to sort all this out online, but can’t see how to.

Does anyone know the best way to do this? Would it actually be better to wait until we are at Basel station and sort it out then? Many thanks.

    Welcome to MySwissAlps, SallyW!

Is this the offer you’re referring to? That looks like a good deal indeed. Purchasing the Junior TravelCard will indeed be better, as that allows a free ride back and forth for your daughter.

Swiss residents often have a SwissPass (for regular train traveling) and/or a SkiPass. Several products and offers can be uploaded, but that wouldn’t be the case for you. As far as I can tell from the SBB’s information, you can simply get your reduced train tickets and ski pass as paper tickets/vouchers. Please check the “Details” and “Purchasing” tabs at the SBB site I just linked to.
