    Hi,

We are being situated in Montreux from 05-11.06.2017 and we’ll have our

own car there. Because the purpose of our visit to Switzerland is half

leisure, half business, we’ll have 3 days free to see Switzerland. We

want to see St. Moritz and Davos and my plan is to go by car from

Montreux to Chur, to sleep over in Chur from where we will take a round

    trip with the Bernina Express.

But, I have some questions:

-Is it better to leave our car in Montreux so that we can make the whole trip that lasts two days by train?

-If it is better to do it by car and by train, which road is the best from

Montreux to Chur, because we would prefer, scenic sightseeing?

-Which option is the best for a round trip by BEX, and can we go in different

direction by different courses so that we can see more? And what would

You say about the possibility of hop on hop off, so that we can get out

of the train and do some walking around the cities that we are visiting?

-Is it recommended that we go from Chur to Tirano or can we take a route

directly from Chur to St. Moritz and Davos? What I am asking is if we

will miss a lot if we are not going to Tirano?

    Regards

    HI Makica,

My suggestion would be to leave the car behind. Then the driver can see the scenery.

You could go from Montreux to Brig and pick up the Glacier Express to St Moritz and stay there and visit Davos.

The return to Montreux via Zurich, Luzern and Golden Pass line.

You will see the first half of the Bernina Express route on the Glacier Express between Chur and St Moritz. If you go all the way to Tirano then you will have to retrace your steps unless you go across to Lugano on the Bernina Express Bus and return to Montreux from there. 3 days would be tight to do that trip unless you could stay a night in St Moritz and a night in Lugano.

The Golden Pass line offers the opportunity to stop off en route but the Glacier or Bernina Express trains don’t.

Hi Makica and welcome to MySwissAlps!

I would echo Rockoyster, take the train from Montreux to Brig and the Glacier Express on from there to St. Moritz and over night there and head back to Montreux via Chur, Zurich and Luzern on the Golden Pass panoramic train(between Luzern and Montreux).

You can search for all train timetables here.
