    Hi,

Me and my wife will be visiting Switzerland in last week of december. Our first stop will be in Paris and we will be getting to Switzerland from Paris. Following is my plan in Switzerland

    Dec28th – Interlaken,Mt Jungfrau

    Dec 29th- Engelberg,Mt Titlis

    Dec 30th- Zurich

Dec 31st – Flying out of Zrh by 10.40am London bound flight

I would like to know how can I plan this transportation wise.

Which will be more convinient- taking a flight from cdg to zrh and taking train to Interlaken and Engelberg or taking a train from Paris to Basel and Interlaken and then subsequently take trains to engelberg and zurich

Please advise accordingly the best plan so that travelling is minimal and optimal

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Atharva, welcome to MySwissAlps!

You’d better take the train from Paris via Basel. It will be more convenient, you will see more scenery, it’s quicker and has a lower CO2 footprint. You’ll find details here: http://www.myswissalps.com/tr aintickets/france.

Staying just one day in Interlaken and Engelberg is pretty risky weather wise. If there are too many clouds, or rain on that day, there won’t be any views on Jungfraujoch and Titlis. I recommend to skip the day in Zurich and add it to Interlaken (or a smaller village in that area) or Engelberg. Also I would consider staying in Lucerne rather than Engelberg and stay there until the morning of December 31. There are direct trains from Lucerne to the airport from 5:00 AM. Lucerne has better public transport connections and offers lots of things to do, including Mount Titlis. Also you’ll have more options in case of bad weather.

    Hi Annika,

Thanks for the reply. Also wanted to know how harsh the weather is during december end usually? Will all the activities I mentioned be possible or there is a possibility of staying indoors because of heavy snowfall

    Please let me know

    Thanks,

    Atharva

    Hi atharva,

End december it is winter in Switserland, it can be have rain and there is snow in the mountains. You can have good or bad weather…………

I think it is better to go in the summer to Jungfraujoch, in the winter there is everywhere snow in the higher mountains. Then it is much cheaper to go to forexcample to Männlichen, Kleine Scheidegg or First.
