    Hello,

We intend to buy a Swiss Saver Pass for our 4-day trip to Switzerland and have plans to take boat trips on the lakes in Interlaken and Lucerne. As we understand it, a Swiss Pass and a Swiss Saver Pass both enjoy the same benefits like free boat rides in Interlaken and Lucerne. However, this website shows that, with a Swiss Saver Pass, we still have to pay CHF 34.00(2009 price) for a lake castle cruise on Lake Thun in Interlaken whereas it is free with a Swiss Pass though we have to pay the entrance fees to the two castles. I also checked the website of BLS but there was no mention of free boat rides with a Swiss Pass or a Swiss Saver Pass. My question is, are the boat trips in Interlaken and Lucerne(with the exception of culinary/dinner cruises) free with a Swiss Saver Pass?

    Thank you.

    Hi lhm17,

Yes, both the Swiss Pass and the Swiss Saver Pass include free boat trips on Lake Thun, Lake Brienz and Lake Lucerne. Special cruises with dinner or other extras are not free, as you have already seen, but they’re discounted in most cases.

The map we link to on the Swiss Pass page is leading. You will get a copy of that when you order your Swiss Pass, so you can take it along while traveling. Most transportation companies see the Swiss Pass as a GA (General Abo) and list their prices as such. The BLS mentiones it like that on their boat fare page as well.

    Enjoy the (free!) trips!

    Hello again,
Wow, that was fast. Thank you Arno, for the confirmation.
