    Hello,

I am trying to buy 2 tickets on the route Milan – Interlaken on the sbb.ch site, but after I choose the seats, the site displays a note saying: “Train temporarily blocked”. Could anyone be so kind as to explain what does this mean? Should I still wait for a day or two or should I try to find another way to book the tickets?

    Thank you in advance.

Hi Little.skip! I’m not sure what that means. You could try another connection the same day to see if that works out, or try again tomorrow. If the problem persists, you can best contact the SBB to ask for assistance.

Thank you Annika. Apparently there is some problem on the route Iselle di Trasquera – Domodossola. I guess people should be warned about this.

    01.08.12 until 22.08.12
Construction work:Iselle di Trasquera – Domodossola
Between Iselle di Trasquera and Domodossola on the Brig – Milano Centrale line, only limited train services are operating.
Delays and train cancellations can be expected.
    Reason: Unscheduled construction work
Duration of construction work from 01.08.2012 until 22.08.2012. The online timetable at http://www.sbb.ch will bee changed.

Could someone please advise me on how to book those tickets on another trajectory? Or is there another way to arrive at Domodossola? Thank you in advance.

Hello Little.skip. So construction work is the reason for the trains being blocked. You can still travel via this route and book your ticket in advance, but you’ll have to be prepared for delays in that case. Shortly in advance, the SBB timetable may show which trains are running and which are not. Generally, this is very well organized in Switzerland. If there’s any delay, train personnel will explain what to do and replacing buses may be used. If you want to avoid this, you can take a detour traveling via Chiasso and Airolo. This will take quite some extra traveling hours though.

Dear Annika, thank you again for your explanations. Could you be so kind as to explain to be how could I book my tickets? I went to SBB, Trenitalia and even bahn.de but none lets me book the tickets. On sbb.ch I get to choose the trajectory and price, but when I want to pay it says: “Train temporarily blocked”. Please advise me on how to proceed if there’s any other way. Thank you very much.

Hi Little.skip! Did you try booking the route at another time the same day? You may find a train that does travel according to schedule. If that doesn’t work, you can best contact the SBB through the link provided in my previous answer and ask for assistance. Booking tickets for this route through another source could be tricky, as other resellers may not be aware of the upcoming constructions works.

Does anybody know when these problems first became known, please? I’ve booked train tickets for those dates. Now the train company says it is changing its timetables because of the work. So the connections that I’ve booked may not work now, and they’re non-refundable! I think the train company should have known there were problems when I first booked. Thanks in advance to anybody who can help. (English, French, German or easy Italian please!)

    Dear Annika,

Thank you once again for your help. I can confirm that I managed to book the tickets for the 4th of August, but now I cannot book them for the return date, which is 11th of August. I suspect that they still hav to settle which trains will still be available etc etc.
slideman, even though the connection you’ve bought for might be delayed or cancelled, I’m sure that there will be other options available. As Annika said, maybe they’ll have some replacement busses on the area which they have troubles with right now. Anyway, I don’t think you should worry too much. I guess someone will be there to guide us.

Attention: the initial dates changed. Now the work is being performed between 11.08.2012 and 02.09.2012.

Tks,Li’l Skip. I booked Paris-Venice 31 Aug – 1 Sept. Then I booked London-Paris teh same day, to connect. If the Paris-Venice train now leaves earlier, my London-Paris tickets are no good, and they’re non-refundable!
