Anyone know of lifts in the Berner Oberland region using open chairlifts? I’d really like the kids to experience one.

    Thanks

Hi levgon! Unfortunately, many chair lifts have been replaced by gondolas over the past few years. A few are left however: in the Kiental and the Diemtigtal, called ‘Wiriehorn‘.

    Hello RaBBit,

The chairlifts you mean are probably only open during winter (skiing)season.

    hi
All the old chairlifts where you travelled up sideways are now closed – last two closed a couple of years ago (Kandersteg – Oescheinensee and Weissenstein)
There are still open style chairlifts operating in the summer between :

    Engstlensee and Joch pass
    Kiental and Ramslaunen

    Hope that’s useful

Grindelwald/First lift is enclosed small gondolas, not open chair.
