All Swiss Half Fare Card details: http://www.myswissalps.com/swisshalffarecard

    More about changes in 2022

    • The youth discount on the Swiss Travel Pass and Swiss Travel Pass Flex will be 30% (was 15%).
    • People from 16 up to and including 24 will be considered youth (was 25).
    • Children up to and including 15 travel along for free (unchanged).
    • Coverage and discounts on mountain routes will likely not change. We’ll post here in case there will be changes after all.

The new prices and passes for 2022 will make the Swiss Travel Pass much more attractive in our opinion. It remains the most convenient pass for Switzerland, but now it will often also be the cheapest. If you’re curious if it’s also the cheapest pass for your travel plans, please see http://www.myswissalps.com/train/ticketspasses/practical/chooserailpass.

    Happy travel planning!

    Hi Arno,

This update is greatly appreciated. My planned travel is October 2022, so not covered by the special offer 25% discount. However, I note that the prices have remained unchanged, and even gone lower for some, which is good to know!

    Many thanks.

I thought children travel along free up to one day before their 16th birthday?

    Hi Sweyne,

Yes, that’s correct. It’s “up to and including 15”. I will correct that in my post to prevent any confusion. You’re good to go if children are still 15 on the start date of the pass.

    Hi Sweyne,

That’s right. With the Swiss Family Card (complimentary with the Swiss Travel Pass), children from 6 years old up to their 16th birthday travel along free. More details here: http://www.myswissalps.com/swissfamilycard

    Hi pkerr,

If you have a second class travelpass, you can upgrade to 1st class by getting a route-specific upgrade ticket. You can do this online via the SBB website or the mobile app, or buy the upgrade ticket at a ticket machine or the railway station. More info here: http://www.myswissalps.com/train/practical/2nd1stclass

    thank you

    Hi k fabre,

If you purchase a consecutive 3-day travel pass, it will be valid until 5 a.m on the 4th day. This is explained here: http://www.myswissalps.com/swisstravelpass/howtouse (please scroll down to the section – Swiss Travel Pass travel days)

We are trying to rebook our holiday to Switzerland for April 2022. Our trip in May 2020 had to be cancelled (Covid).

The 25% discount is great news, thank you. It states that Travel time: 1st day of validity is 11 months from the issuing date at the latest. But as you have to enter a travel date (eg 25 April 2022) does this mean it cannot be changed? I note that cancellation is free of charge up to 1 day before. But if travel plans change could the start date be amended free of charge??

    Hi Sweyne,

The start date is fixed once you have purchased the pass. The pass purchased via this promotion can be cancelled free of charge, but it can’t be changed. You’d have to buy a new pass with a new start date.

Sweyne – If your travel plans are not firm, it might be worth it to pay more for the STP Flex. The STP Flex now allows the travel days to be used over a three month period. But the earlier the start date, the less time there is to cancel if there is a problem.

Thanks for your tip Lungworm :-)! The flexibility of the Swiss Travel Pass Flex might indeed come in handy. Just to avoid any misunderstanding: the free travel days of a Swiss Travel Pass Flex should be used within one month: http://www.myswissalps.com/swisstravelpassflex. There has been an offer with an extended 3-month validity period though: http://www.myswissalps.com/forum/topic/swiss-travel-pass-flex-promo-extra-travel-days. That’s probably what you were thinking of?

On the Switzerland Travel Centre page for the STP Flex 25% discount, the 4th bullet currently says “Valid for travel on freely selectable days within three months.”

    shop.switzerlandtravelcentre.com/swissFlexiPassPromo

Based on what you said, that must be an error.

Thanks for letting us know Lungworm! I see the information indeed, that’s new to us. We’ll try to figure out if this is a mistake or a feature added by the SBB Travel Centre to the current promotion.

Hello Lungworm! We’ve been in touch with the SBB Travel Centre and they confirmed that their information about a 3-month validity period for the Swiss Travel Pass Flex is a mistake. They’ll correct their text.

I will be purchasing a 15 day Swiss Travel Pass for travel starting June 21, 2022. This means I’ll be using it through July 5, 2022. Does this time frame qualify for the current promotion or does the travel have to be completed by then end of June 2022?

Many thanks for all the wonderful and helpful information here.

    Hi Gail,

Welcome to MySwissAlps! We have a separate thread about the promotion, please see http://www.myswissalps.com/forum/topic/swiss-travel-pass-25-off-for-trips-in-20212022. Indeed your time frame qualifies. You will need to buy via https://www.happyrail.com/en/pass/europe/switzerland/swiss-travel-pass-consecutive because they allow to buy 11 months in advance. Be sure to select 21 June 2022 as your “travel date”, this is the pass start date.
