Hello, We will be traveling throughout Switzerland in December and would like suggestions for a charming Christmas feeling town between Montreux and Solothurn. We have already been to Gruyeres (lovely) and Bern (would prefer smaller town/village) so another idea, on the train route, would be most welcomed. Many thanks,

Not an answer to your question, but the Chrismast market at Montreux is one of the best markets, along with Basel, for example.

Hi Fritzrab! Yes, Chrismas Market in Montreux is my favorite. Love it so much. 🙂

Anyway, if you travel via the faster train routes from Montreux to Solothurn, you are going to travel via Biel / Bienne. Have you ever been there? Usually they also have a Christmas market.

Or you can stop also in Neuchatel if you haven’t been there yet.

How would you compare Neuchatel to Biel? I gather Biel is much larger, perhaps more or a city?

I had the opportunity to go to the Biel/Bienne Christmas Markt in 2018 and it was wonderful!
