We have an eight day Swiss Pass. But we will be in Switzerland nine days. We have to travel from the train station in Luzern to our accommodations by city bus. Where do we buy a ticket for the bus? Are there special prices for seniors? Is it possible to buy tickets from the driver for the next morning when we want to return to the train station to get the passes validated? Any other information that you can share would be appreciated.

    thank you,

    Joanne

    Hi Joanne,

I’m not sure if the driver sells tickets, but you can get them from ticketing machines. City transport in Luzern is based on a zone system. The ticket price depends on how many zones you’ll be traveling in. If you’re unsure about what you need you can also get tickets from the staffed VBL (bus company) desk at the rail station. They can sell you tickets for the next day as well, but you don’t need these if that’s the first travel day of your Swiss Pass. You can validate the pass whenever is convenient for you (e.g. upon arrival in Luzern or any other staffed rail station you come across). Just make sure to tell the staff you need it to be validated for another day, not for the same day.

    Kind regards,

    Arno

    Good Morning Arno,

Thank you so much for your quick answer. We will arrive in Luzern in a few hours. It is the small details of travelling that can stress me out. This is a wonderful web site.

    Joanne
