Confusion over Swiss rail passes or point to point

What is the best combination of passes and point to point to buy? Here is brief summary of train plans:

Day 1 Zurich airport to Interlaken or Wengen

Day2-5 (4 days) in the Berner Oberland

    Day 6 Wengen to Geneva

Both of us qualify for senior fares.

Do we need to travel to Wengen or Interlaken if we are staying in Wengen?

Considering the Rail Pass as well as half price.

    Thanks.

    Hi jcaffrey47,

Welcome to MySwissAlps and thanks for sharing your itinerary.

As you plan to be based mainly in the Bernese Oberland, perhaps getting the Regional Pass Bernese Oberland would be the best option. This pass allows you unlimited travel on most of the regional transport network including from Wengen to Interlaken. You can find more details here: http://www.myswissalps.com/regionalpassberneseoberland

You can combine this with point-to-point tickets if you are only making single journeys or transfer to/from Zurich and Geneva. Details about point-to-point tickets are available here: http://www.myswissalps.com/traintickets/switzerland

I would recommend that you take advantage of the supersaver tickets which allow you to travel on many Swiss train and public transport routes with a discount of up to 70%. It is an inexpensive way to travel. You can check availability and prices here: http://www.myswissalps.com/traintickets/switzerland/price.

Do let us know if you have any more question.

    Regards,

    Anna
