    Hi,

Two friends and I will be staying in Wengen for 3 nights in September. It will be our first time in Switzerland.

We are planning on doing two hikes during the first 2 nights.

The hikes are: 1. the Royal Walk and .2. First to Bachalpsee and the First Flyer Experience

Please let me know the following:

    1. what is the best/most scenic way to travel from Wengen to the starting point of the Royal walk hike and back to Wengen?

2.Once we go on the First Flyer flight which ends in Schreckfeld, how should we travel back to Wengen?

    3. would it be feasible to combine both the hikes into 1 day, considering both are in Grindelwald?

    Many thanks in advance

1- The Royal Walk is a short walk from Männlichen cable car station to the top. You can walk it in 30 minutes upstairs. It is not difficult. From Wengen with the cable car, the cable car start in the center of Wengen, 5 minutes from the railwaystation.

2- The First Flyer is from First to Schreckfeld. Schreckfeld is also a cablecar station from Firstbahn.

3- The Royal Walk is not in Grindelwald. You can do Wengen>Cable car to Männlichen> Royal Walk Männlichen > Cable car to Grindelwald Grund> walk to railwaystation in 5 minutes> train to Grindelwald 5 minutes> Walk to Firstbahn 15 minutes > Cablecar to First > Walk to Bachalpsee and back (2 hours) and when you have time> First Flyer to Schreckfeld. Back whit cable car to Grindelwald. Walk to trainstation BOB.

Grindelwald by train to Zweilutschinnen and change to Lauterbrunnen, change to Wengen.

It is very a long day, but start early in the morning, it is possible…………

    Greetings from the Netherlands, Brahms

For the First Flyer, do you know whether if you buy tickets in advance does this allow you to join any different queue or is it still a long wait?

    Thanks!

    Hello,

When I looked at this website, http://www.maennlichen.ch/en/ wengenmaennlichen-aerial-cableway.html, it states that there is a cable car ride from Wenegen to Grindelwald. You have mentioned that I will need to take a train from Grindelwald Grund to Grindelwald.

Please let me know if there is any particular reason to take a train from Grindelwald Grund to Grindelwald instead of the cable car to Grindelwald? Can I purchase the Wengen–Männlichen–
Grindelwald cable car ticket, get off at Männlichen, do the royal walk and get back on the cable car to head to Grindelwald or is it a direct cable car ride from Wengen to Grindelwald without any stops?

    Thank you.

The cable car Wengen <> Mannlichen and Mannlichen <> Grindelwald Grund are different cable cars. On Mannlichen you must always change. You can walk the Royal Walk and then go to Grindelwald Grund.

Grindelwald Grund is the end of this Cable Car, not Grindelwald (town). So you must walk across the parking lot to WAB railway station Grindelwald Grund to go to Grindelwald. Only 5 minutes by train.

Grindelwald is also the station for the BOB train to Zweilütschinen and Interlaken Ost.

WAB are the Yellow / Green train

BOB are the Yellow / Blue train

According to the website though, there seems to be a cable car that goes directly to Grindelwald from Wengen. Maybe I am missing something. Nonetheless, thank you for your time.

The website is indeed a bit confusing, but there’s no direct cable car.

There is no cable car from Wengen to Grindelwald directly. Only Grindelwald Grund.

Only a WAB-train is going from Wengen to Grindelwald, through Kleine Scheidegg (with change at Kleine Scheidegg). But this train is not going through Mannlichen.

Can you give the link of the site, please ?

    Greetings, Brahms

That makes sense then! I was thoroughly confused, considering how carefully Brahms had explained it all to me.

    Thank you Arno.

    Hi Brahms,

Arno just said that the particular website is confusing and that there is no direct cable car to Grindelwald, as you have correctly said as well.

This is the link http://www.maennlichen.ch/en/ wengenmaennlichen-aerial-cableway.html

    Many thanks for your patience.

Thank you Brahms. You have been very kind. I do have quite a few questions lined up on transport in a couple of other places. Looking forward to getting my doubts clarified by an extremely helpful forum.

    Hello again Brahms,

In your post of 14th May, you have said that after I take the First Flyer to Schreckfeld, I can take a cable car back to Grindelwald. Can you please let me know where this cable car can be taken from and where I can find the cable car cost?

    Thank you

    Hello again !

Schreckfeld is a cable car station from the First to Grindelwald cablecar.

This station is direkt on the end of the First Flyer. The First Flyer go the same route of the cable car from First to Schreckfeld.
