    Hi,

My boyfriend and I will be driving round in Switzerland as we are staying in many places and we like to be unrestricted to stop where we wish to as we are keen photographers.

Can someone share with us where we can get to by car around Grindelwald, besides Interlaken?

    Thanks,

    May

Hi Mayjayne, welcome to our website,

Actually, for good photography around Grindelwald, a car limits your options as most of the area is only accessible by cable car, mountain train and other public transport. With a car, you can only drive in the valleys: indeed to Interlaken, to the Lauterbrunnen valley (Stechelberg), and to Isenfluh, and that’s about it. I would recommend to get a rail pass and go up in the mountains. Please see here for more information: http://www.myswissalps.com/jungfrauregion/travel

    Hi,

yes, the advice given by Annika is correct. From Grindelwald the closest best scenic area is up towards Grosse Scheidegg, but this is only accessible by bus or bicycle. This route is a VERY popular cycling route. Can you take bikes with you? That would be an excellent way of getting to some really scenic places. There’s a Grindelwald-Männlichen Gondlebahn that gets you up to some nice scenic views of the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau. If you have the funds you could take the Jungfraubahn from Kleine Scheidegg, through the Eiger up near the top of the Jungfrau. Really spectacular views from around 12,000 ft on a clear day……
