How or what website is best to see what trains in Switzerland our RailEurope 2 Country Select Pass, Flexi, 1st class, covers & what the schedules are? (two countries being Switzerland & France, pass good for 6 days of train travel)

My wife & I love to visit Switzerland, our most favorite place in the world! We have traveled there several times & have always used their wonderful trains for all our transportation. We were advised to purchased a RailEurope 2 country Select Pass, Flexi, 1st class, for traveling from the CDG Paris Airport to Lausanne, then onto a small Swiss mountain town in Villars Sur Orlon, Then onto Zermatt, Then onto Murren, then onto Interlaken, to Montreaux & a small vineyard town Cully. Then back to Paris.

Our trip is over 25 days starting at the Paris CDG airport on Sept 1st. We are trying to plan our train travels & when it is best to get the trains at the places in Switzerland that we want to visit.

    Many thanks for your assistance!

    Bryan & Susan

Hello Bryan and Susan and welcome to MySwissAlps,

You can see Eurail coverage in Switzerland at http://www.myswissalps.com/eu railglobalpass/validit y

How long are you planning to travel in Switzerland versus France? That may dictate which Pass is best suited to your needs.

You might want to have a read of http://www.myswissalps.com/tr ain and follow through to the information on the Swiss Travel Pass.

You can check Swiss Train timetable here http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable

Also have a look at http://www.myswissalps.com/be rneseoberland for information on Interlaken and Mürren and also http://www.myswissalps.com/ze rmatt. You’ll probably want to travel from Interlaken to Montreux via the Golden Pass route http://www.myswissalps.com/go ldenpass/gettingthere

    Happy travels!

    Hi Fabrizio8-

    Welcome to MySwiss Alps-

I’ve not used that App, and it sounds like it could be very useful. It is always a chore to coordinate travel from country to country. The SBB timetable will work for any travel to/from Switzerland, so I sometimes use it for journeys to surrounding countries.

Generally, within Switzerland, the links noted by Rockoyster (especially the timetable), can give more detail, especially on the secondary routes, such as to Villars. Rail Europe works well for the main inter-country routes.

I recall from my last visit there a few years ago that the views from the terrace restaurant of a hotel near the station are fantastic. Not sure, but it is probably the Hotel Golf, maybe the Hotel Alp Fleurie.

However, many of the hotels on that mountainside will have grand views of the Dents du Midi.
