    Hi youneverwalkalone,

You can best check the Basel Tourism website for current events (perhaps you like the Christmas markets?). As for day trips out of Basel: Basel is located in the North West corner of Switzerland, so it requires relatively long trips to reach the rest of the country. I would recommend to do those trips by train and look into the Swiss rail passes. Regarding Interlaken: I would pick a viewing point such as the Jungfraujoch or Schilthorn, south of Interlaken. You may want to skip this alltogether if the weather is bad. There’s not that much to see or do when it’s rainy. A city trip to Bern, Zurich or Geneva would be better in that case. Just check this website including the forum for more tips. There’s plenty to see but it depends on what you like (museums, sports, hiking, traveling?).

    Have fun!
