Hi, I am travelling to Switzerland and based in Lucerne. I want to do glacier express in one day and return back to Lucerne. I have bought the swiss rail pass tickets for 4 days. any suggestions on how this can be done, what routes to take and any travel directions would be helpful.

    Hi ssinghan,

The Glacier Express is an 8 hour trip from Zermatt to St. Moritz, so doing this from Lucerne is (nearly) impossible and at least pretty inconvenient. It makes more sense to consider the Golden Pass route, which starts in Lucerne. However, you can look into doing part of the Glacier Express route, e.g. from Brig to Chur. Please check the timetable to see how long that will take and if you’re fine with the amount of traveling. Further details are on the Glacier Express page.
