    Hi,

I have recently purchased the Swiss Flexi Pass for 2nd class seats. However, when i tried making seat reservation for Glacier Express on 17 May 2012, i found there’s only 1st Class seats available for the train (or is it due to some reason that we couldn’t make reservation for 2nd class seats?).

To clarify, i understand that the second class ticket could be updated to first class ticket. However, I have some queries about this..

    1) How could i update the ticket from 2nd class ticket to 1st Class ticket ? Is there any processing fees for this and can this be done online?

    2) From the webpage, the different for 2nd class and 1st class from Zermatt to Chur is SCF 77…do we entitle for any discount for this upgrade with Swiss Flexi Pass or we need to pay the difference above?

    3) Alternatively, could we change the swiss flexi pass from 2nd class to 1st class now? If so, how could i proceed this?

Thanks in advance for your help…

Hello jubiltc! It’s possible that 2nd class seats for mid May are already sold out. However, sometimes online reservation systems offer a limited number of seats, so some may be left for direct reservation through the railway company. That’s why I suggest that you contact the Rhaetian Railways to ask whether 2nd class seats are still available.

If you want to travel in 1st class, you have to make 1st class reservations. On top of that, you need an upgrade ticket. This can be purchased at the railway station before boarding. You’ll have to pay the difference between the 2nd class and 1st class price for your leg. Glacier Express prices can be found here.

As for changing your 2nd class pass to a 1st class pass: that means you’d have to cancel your order and purchase a new pass. Generally, rules on cancellation are rather strict, but it depends on your reseller. You can best contact them to find out.
