    Hi

Me and my partner are planning a trip to Lake Como mid june 2017. We are hoping to use klausen pass, susten pass, furka pass, nufenen pass on our way down to Italy… however some websites say these are closed October to June, is this certain or dependent on weather? how will we know before our trip?

Please help…(a very excited holiday planner)

    Thanks

    Hayley

    Hi Hayley-

    Welcome to My Swiss Alps-

    Sounds like a real trip!

Snow keeps most high passes closed until early – to – mid june.

Arno has a link to help; I don’t remember it.

The Klausen Pass is a bit more demanding than the others. I did it in the fog and clouds once, coming back from the Graubünden, and I did not like it.

Guard rails are not the norm on Swiss alpine roads.

Hi Hayley and welcome to MySwissAlps!

As Slowpoke said, most mountain passes are closed until June sometime (weather dependent). Take a look at our driving in Switzerland information page. You can find links to current traffic conditions around Switzerland. There tends not to be any hard opening dates for these passes.

    Regards,
    Lucas

<<“slowpoke when did you drive the klausen pass from graubunden? “>>

Many years ago. Can’t remember on which trip of the 80 or so since 1980 without some research.

    Guess? 15 years ago.

    Hi Hayley,

We have rough opening and closing dates listed under our traffic information page here. Under the map.
