Hi, during the first week of May I am travelling to Interlaken for one day, and then staying in Grindelwald for two days. I know this is off season but I was wondering what are some good activities to do? I would like to do some hiking (what trails are open at this time) along with the top of Europe. Also, if I were to spend an extra day where would be best to do so? Any advise, tips or experience would be greatly appreciated!

    Welcome to MySwissAlps!

Here’s my thoughts: Interlaken (large, lots of shops, many train connections and not in the mountains) and Grindelwald (smaller and in the mountains) are just 30 minutes apart. I would stay 3 days in one of these towns, not both, and the additional 4th day as well. There’s plenty to do, but no high altitude hiking. My estimate is that trails below 2000 m should be clear of snow, but there’s really no way to tell in advance. You’d best ask the tourist agency for all the latest details when you’re there. Please see the links for activity and hotel tips. It’s indeed off season but you can have a great time if the weather cooperates and if you check opening times of cable cars/attractions in advance.
