We will be in Interlaken for 3 nights and would like to do the day trip to Jungfrau. We wont be travelling extensively in Switzerland and will be heading to Spain after our 3 nights.

Please advise the best train ticket to use.

    Thanks

    Hi SGanesh,

Which pass is best depends on a number of factors, e.g.: what will your inbound and outbound journey look like? What other trips do you intend to make? If you want to make sure which option is most economical for your specific plans, I suggest you follow the guidelines at myswissalps.com/train/ ticketspasses/practica l/chooserailpass.

The Swiss Half Fare Card (myswissalps.com/swissh alffarecard), Jungfrau Travel Pass (myswissalps.com/jungfr autravelpass) or Regional-Pass Bernese Oberland (myswissalps.com/region alpassberneseoberland) may be worth looking into.

    Hi Annika,

Good day to you. Thank you very much for taking the time to advise on this matter. Most appreciated. I would arrive in Interlaken from Venice via Basel on the 1st Dec and will set base in Interlaken until 03rd Dec of which thereafter, I will be moving on to Barcelona.

I intend to do Jungfrau for one full day and the rest of the 2 days will be spent in Interlaken just relaxing and visiting the lakes and all other places of interest in Interlaken or surroundings. If I intend to buy any passes, it would be only if it is gonna be economical for the Jungfrau trip.

    Thanks

    Hi SGanesh,

If the only trains you will be taking are Basel to Interlaken and then trips within the Jungfrau region than I would look at the Jungfrau Travel Pass as Annika suggested (free trip to Eigergletscher from Interlaken and then 50% off the rest of the trip to Jungfraujoch) and then perhaps just a point to point ticket for Basel-Interlaken.

If you are doing limited train travel around Interlaken (say just the trip to Jungfraujoch) then the Half fare Card may be a better option. Which gets you 50% off all train trips made in Switzerland.
