Working out the planning for our visit to Wengen in July/August

Can appreciate that 1st Class may well be worthwhile on the transfers to/from Zurich, but when looking at a Regional pass to cover our stay I wonder whether 1st is much different on the local trains, or even if it’s always present on the smaller trains?

Hi Moonraker! 1st class is available in regular local trains (such as the connections from Interlaken to Lauterbrunnen, Grindelwald, Brienz and further eastwards, Thun and further westwards, Lucerne, and so on). However, there’s no 1st class for some mountain trains and cable cars. It depends on the exact trips you want to make whether you think a 1st class pass is worth your money. An advantage, especially when traveling in July and August, is that 1st class coaches generally are less crowded. Here’s further explanation on the difference between both options.
