    Hi Rockoyster,

Don’t worry, your Swiss Travel Pass Flex will work perfectly fine. A “valid ticket” applies to any kind of valid ticket or pass that allows traveling on the designated route. As long as your pass covers the route you intend to use the luggage service for, there won’t be any problems.

    Hi mkaligis,

At the right hand of myswissalps.com/train/ practical/luggage you’ll find a link to the SBB luggage services. You’ll see detailed information and prices if you follow that link.

    hi Annika,

Oops just realize, it’s only within Switzerland. (

I need to forward to Tirano, do you think they provide service to Tirano ?

sorry annika, please ignore my last question. I think I’ll forward it to Lugano, it’s close to Milan.

    Hi mkaligis,

You can use service at Tirano. But see http://www.sbb.ch/content/dam /sbb/de/pdf/bahnhof-services/dienstleistun gen/gepaeck/Stationen-mit-abweichenden-Aufgabe-und-Bezugszeiten_DFIE.pdf as Tirano registration and collection times differ from “normal” stations.

Are you continuing on from Tirano to Lugano on Bernina Express Bus? If so then Lugano makes sense. If you are going by train direct from Tirano to Milan then Lugano wouldn’t be such a good idea.

    Thanks for your suggestion rockoyster,

I was going to Milano from Tirano, but after reading scenic route extended from Tirano to Lugano, moreover Milano is closer to Lugano than Tirano, I change my plan.

I find Lugano is considered as station with deviating registration.

Lugano SBB CFF FFS. Register by 19:00, Pick up from: 12:00

If I am not wrong, so I’ll have register my luggage by 19 pm and can be picked in Lugano from 12.00 pm ?

How to contact sbb by email ? Sorry I couldn’t find it.

    Hi mkaligis,

There is a Contact form on this page http://www.sbb.ch/en/station-services.html – scroll down to the bottom.

I presume you will register ( drop off) your luggage at Luzern? You can collect at Lugano any time after mid-day on the second day after you drop it off. You won’t arrive Lugano until late afternoon via the Bernina Bus so should not be a problem.

Have you read this page http://www.sbb.ch/en/station-services/services/lugg age-and-flight-luggage/luggage/luggag e.html and in particular “If you send your luggage at a station with luggage shipping facilities by 7 p.m., you can collect it from your destination station two days later from 9 a.m.”?

If you are planning to depart Luzern by 6:00am and go Luzern – Chur – Lugano – Milan in one day then the luggage service won’t work for you.

Indeed, but there’s also an express service if same day collection is needed: http://www.sbb.ch/en/station-services/services/lugg age-and-flight-luggage/luggage/expres s-luggage.html.

Quite so, Arno, but strangely Lugano does not feature as one of the stations offering this service. See http://www.sbb.ch/content/dam /sbb/de/pdf/bahnhof-services/dienstleistun gen/gepaeck/Stationen_ Reisegepaeck_Express_D FIE.pdf

Whether that means it is not a station at which one can register express luggage, or not a station where one can collect express luggage, or just an omission from the list, is unclear.

Yes, I know, I have too much time on my hands. Retirement can do that to you.

You are so right! I’m glad you had the time to check that 😉 The list of express destinations is quite limited indeed. Locarno is included, but that’s inconvenient if continuing to Milan the same day. SBB also offers an “international” luggage service but in reality the only destination is Germany.

    Hi mikaligis,

So you changed your mind about going to Lugano?

    An example:

If you plan to collect luggage on arrival at Tirano on say Wednesday then you must leave it at Luzern by 7pm Monday.

Noted rockoyster, I’ll register my luggage 2 days prior Bernina express journey, thanks for your information.

Yes, back to initial plan to stop at Tirano station since Tirano-Lugano by bus takes about 4 hours, I feel worried that will arrive in Milan late in the evening about 7pm.

Hi Arno, do you think SBB provide international luggage service from Germany to Swiss ? If yes do they accept it if I have Bahn ticket ?

    Hi mkaligis,

You can ship your luggage to Germany – noted on the luggage link provided in any earlier post for you.
They should be fine to do it as long as you have a ticket from Switzerland to Germany – but it does take several days (up to 5) so it is not convenient usually.

    Hi Lucas-

I think the question was for transport in the other direction?
