Can someone please confirm that eating and wine are permitted on the trains. I want to make use of my time on a train from Basel to Zurich and have lunch. Also, can anyone offer any tips on where I can grab some good food to go nearby the Basel SBB station?

    Hello thebowl,

Yes, eating and wine are permitted on Swiss trains. There is a Migros in Basel Station just to the right of the main entrance as you go into the station. They offer hot and cold dishes. There is a COOP just across the street from the main entrance. Both offer a good selection of wines. There are also many other shops offering takeaway food either in the station or close by. You won’t go hungry. Making a choice will be the hard part. 😇
