    Hello,

My family is looking to travel tomorrow, 23/07, from Milano Centrale to Zurich HB. We have one more day of the Swiss Flex pass to travel and would like to use it if possible versus paying for a direct train from Milan to Zurich.

It was my understanding we would simply need to purchase a ticket to a Swiss border town from Milan, and then our Swiss Pass would cover the rest of the trip to Zurich. However, almost all trains through the SBB website have “Reservations Compulsory” listed as a train feature.

Can anyone share insight on the best way for us to travel tomorrow? There is the EuroCity 158 departing Milan at 10:15 tomorrow to Arth-Goldau that connects through multiple Swiss/Italian border towns. This train lists Reservations as Compulsory. Are we allowed to purchase a train ticket simply from Milan to Chiasso (first Swiss stop) and use our Swiss pass the rest of the way? Can you purchase seat reservations for the entire length of the Milan to Arth-Goldau trip, while the actual ticket is only purchased from Milan to Chiasso?

Thank you very much for any help you can give!

    Hello Eric,

Go to fahrplan.sbb.ch/bin/qu ery.exe/en and look for Milan to Zurich. When you get to the reductions option just put in that you have a GA 2cl (assuming you have a second class STP Flex) and you should end up with a fare of around CHF 19. Then proceed to make reservation.

    Happy travels.

Thanks so much for the help rockoyster! Was confused if the reduction was for Swiss residents using their “travel pass”, or if the GA 2cl. redcution is for the Swiss Travel Pass Flex 8 day (which we have, as tourists). We will make the reservation now. Thanks again!
