Hi i searched on this website but i am little bit confusing about Mt titlis route

Q1) After reaching Engelberg , we have to board on cable car . Is cable car station is near to Engelberg railway station? What is meaning of this para:

    “The cable car

First you take the gondola to Trübsee. There you switch to another gondola to Stand. Both gondolas have large panoramic windows. The last section from Stand to the Titlis (this location is called Kleintitlis) features a revolving cable car.”

Why there is need to take gondala?

A gondola is a small cable car. It’s the only way to get up there. You can walk over there from the train in 10 minutes: myswissalps.com/titlis /gettingthere.
