We are a young couple travelling for 8nights 9 days to switzerland. we will take 4 main train trips ie. Zurich-luzern, Luzerne-Interlaken, Interlaken-zermatt, zermatt-zurich. All these trips will be on non consecutive days hence i thought best option is flexi pass. Or will we save more with half fare card? Also i am confused if the flexi pass will work in the in-between days as well for half fare reduction for excursions like Luzerne-pilatus, interlaken-lake brienz boat tour, interlaken-jungfraujoch, zermatt-matterhorn etc? If not then will paying full fare for just these 4 mentioned excursions be cheaper or half fare card can save me some money?

    Hello anshulkhanna,

Thanks for posting! The Swiss Travel Pass Flex does not offer discounts on the days in between the free travel days. However, if you add a Swiss Half Fare Card (for half the normal price), you will get discounts on those days. All the details are explained on the pass page.

Alternatively, you can buy Swiss Half Fare Cards only, and buy discounted tickets for all of your trips, rather than getting unlimited free trips. Which option is cheapest can be calculated as explained here.

If you’re traveling before April, please take into account that Mount Pilatus will be closed for maintenance.
