Greetings to the forum! A question in relation to the Niederhorn…Is it far to walk to the Gemmenalphorn [from the gondola] and then back? I am looking at then walking the “Niederhorn-Beatenberg” trail, which then takes about 2.5 hrs.I have also read that an alternative route with more “spectacular” views is on the N/E part of the Guggisgrat ridge. From the Niederhorn Gondola station [after walking ,if not too far,to the Gemmenalphorn and back] is this alternative way down to Beatenberg, easy to access/follow? Finally..in relation to “Niederhorn-Waldeg hike” is the one down to Beatenberg as scenic and,an “easier” walk?
    Hoping for your help:-)

Hi mbear! The climb up the the Gemmenalphorn can be very well made from the Niederhorn (provided that you have proper hiking gear and mind the weather circumstances, of course). And yes, getting there first and then descending to Waldegg is a bit more difficult, but also more scenic than the direct descent to Beatenberg, as that trail mainly consists of hiking paths in the forest. Both routes are well marked.

Thanks Annika…In respect of the “introduction paragraph”on the Niederhorn-Beatenberg hike trail, could you please explain what is meant by the mention of an alternative [trail?]with a more spectacular view can be found on the north-eastern part of the Guggisgrat ridge?…Is this ANOTHER trail down to Beatenberg?

Hi mbear. The hike with spectacular views we refer to is the trail Niederhorn-Waldegg.
