October weather; any snowy destinations?

I had planned and reserved – 8 day Swiss Travel Pass, visits to Titlis, Jungfraujoch, Zermatt, Rhine Falls, train rides in Golden Pass (VIP seats, with your help), Glacier, Bernina, William Tell, accommodation, et all – but it all came to naught as my wife fell ill and we had to cancel everything, incurring a substantial loss. In fact I would have been heading towards Rhine Falls today, as my trip was 4 Apr-12 Apr. Now I am re-planning a 12 day trip in October and I want to cover maximum trains and mountain excursions. I also want maximum snow cover but I can only afford the shoulder season, hence October.

1 Any suggestions for snowy destinations?

2 I also have in mind an 8 day Swiss Travel Pass but what would be the best deal for the remaining 3-4 days?

    Thanks.

    Hi sartajsasson,

I’m sorry to hear your wife is ill; hopefully she will recover quickly.

    1) Mount Titlis and Jungfraujoch always have snow. October is not winter yet, so you have to go to high places like these to find snow.

    2) If you travel during the 3-4 days as well a 15-day Swiss Travel Pass is most likely the best deal. Of course it’s more expensive than an 8-day pass, but regular tickets will cost you much more. However, you first need an itinerary. Then pick a pass as explained here, like you’ve probably done for your cancelled trip as well.
