    Hi,

I would be based in Interlaken for three nights (from 17th June to 19th June) and from there I wish to experience Glacier Express or Bernina Express in a day i.e. morning departure and evening arrival to Interlaken. I would be using swiss travel pass and we are a family i.e. a couple and two kids 10 and 4. Please suggest a suitable itinerary for the day. I also need to book seat reservations for either of the two panoramic trains so I would be happy if I get options for both the trains. Thanks.

Hi Monika, and welcome to MySwissAlps!

The Glacier Express does not start, finish or pass near Interlaken, and the whole route takes around 8 hours. You could do the sector from Brig to Zermatt if you don’t mind the travel time, but the first Glacier Express for the day will not arrive in Brig until 14:40, having left St Moritz at 8:02. It will arrive in Zermatt at 16:10. It would then take you almost 2.5 hours to get back to Interlaken via the fastest route.

You will find comprehensive information, including how to make reservations, here:

The Bernina Express route is on the other side of Switzerland. A round trip on the Bernina Express from Interlaken would take over 15 hours and cannot be completed in one day.

There is more information about the Bernina Express here:

You could consider taking the Golden Pass route from Interlaken to Montreux (around 3 hours each way).

Here is a map showing the panoramic routes in Switzerland. The Wilhelm Tell Express is now called the Gotthard Panorama Express.

    Hi,

I am based in Zurich and want to experience Glacier express in one day. I am okay to take Glacier express for one way and any other fast train for returning to Zurich. Thanks, Mohit

I suggested a similar trip to someone else recently, that might suit you.
