Hey Arno! Thanks a ton for posting it here!

I opened the link for India and saw discounts for the tickets. But when I checked for the swiss travel pass, there was no promo code shown there. Do I assume that the promotion is over? Could you please confirm once?

    Thank you! 👍

    Hi Jayy123,

The promo codes apply to all passes and tickets, they just don’t show that on all of their pages. I’m sure it will work if you go ahead and enter the code while ordering.

I booked 2 tickets (8 days consecutive Swiss travel pass) yesterday using the link and promo code above : http://www.raileurope.com/pro motions/rail-europe-summer-promo.html and was able to apply $55 discount to get the $693 total price. But today I got email from MySwitzerland-USD-Orders <[email protected]> saying “Do to a price change, your order has confirmed for a higher total of $741.”. I am not sure what has increased the price, the official swiss travel pass site still shows the same price. This doesn’t seem normal to see and book with one price and then get email for higher price.

    Welcome to MySwissAlps Pklele!

That’s indeed weird. I did notice that the US Rail Europe site increased their prices recently, but once ordered and paid the price should not change. So are they asking you to pay $48 extra to actually receive the passes, or else cancel it? If so, I’ll get in touch with them to see if I can find out more. Can you share their full e-mail, or forward it to our e-mail?

I’m not sure which website you consider to be the official one as there are many Swiss and foreign websites selling Swiss Travel Passes. Did you check http://www.swissrailways.com/ en perhaps? That’s the “official” tourist webshop of the Swiss Railways. Their prices in CHF are usually stable for an entire year, but other retailers can set their own prices based on exchange rates, promotions and more. There is no relation there. Rail Europe was cheaper than this webshop, until their most recent price change.

With reference to the person below who has had a price change email, I too am having trouble with Rail Europe, they asked me what the start date for my three Swiss Travel Passes should be, because a system problem meant I hadn’t given one, but despite trying in three different ways, I can’t contact them! Emails bounce back and website enquiries appear to go nowhere. I have emailed you at MySwissAlps.com in the hope you can give me some guidance. Thanks.

    Hi Springers

I experienced the same problem with you for my booking in Hong Kong. Having no way to contact, I searched the booking confirmation e-mail and discovered a key to send out a message with the first validity date in it. At the end, it replied that the e-mail account enquiring you for the validity date can only send out message, but cannot receive message. That’s why your messages bounds back.

Finally, my problem is resolved throughout communications with raileurope.hk which is the contact agent of raileurope in Hong Kong.

I think you can try out to search possible contact means in your booking confirmation e- mail.

Hi, thanks very much for your response. I have tried two different emails (one from the booking confirmation email) and the website enquiry form, but had no luck with any of them.

Arno is kindly looking into this.

    Hi Pklele,

Can I share your e-mail address with Rail Europe? That way they can find your order and contact you.

    Hi Springers,

According to your account you reside in the UK. Which website of Rail Europe did you order from? There is no UK website as far as I know.

    Hi Arno, through http://www.raileurope-world.com/train-tickets/rail-passes/

which is where your discount offer took me. No problem booking with an English address, though the website enquiry help people seem to be based in Mumbai. It appeared to me to be a world-wide website.

Thanks, you are right: it is a world-wide website of them. Although officially that website does not sell to Europe, but I don’t think they block orders from there either. I just edited my post to make that more clear. Can I share your e-mail address with Rail Europe so they can sort this out?

    Hi Arno,

Yes please share. I had replied to them as well asking why there was a change in price. Since I had 2 bookings through different email addresses, let me send you the other email address as well.

    Thnx.
