Just read in my Sunday travel supplement where Sim Cards are now available throughout Europe where roaming charges have been abolished in all EU countries. Eg a 5gb SIM card purchased in London can be used throughout Europe without incurring additional fees.

Has anyone over that way heard about this?

    Hi Wallaby Bob,

You’ll find details at the bottom of the page http://www.myswissalps.com/si mcard. Providers in the EU may no longer charge different rates in different countries; they should charge whatever they charge in your EU home country, regardless of where in the EU you are. Switzerland is not part of the EU though. Providers may or may not apply the same rules to Switzerland. So it is still worth a double check to see what the rates are, and also the internet speed (4g is very convenient if one uses internet a lot). But it sure is an improvement for EU citizens!

    Thanks Arno,

The 4g was just an example. However because we are travelling in other European countries as well as Switzerland I thought it an interesting piece of information.
