We will be visiting zermatt for a day in July 2012 (staying in Thyons le Colonnes) to go up to the glacier. My husband and I used to ski but our teenagers have never tried it; they would love to have a go just to say they have done it.
Is there anywhere on the glacier to hire the equipment for an hour or so? I believe you can do it on the Jungfraujoch but it seems an awful lot of fuss if you have to take it up there for such a short time for beginners.
They can do a short introduction on a dry ski slope here in the UK to start them off.

    Hi Clowance,

You can definitely rent equipment in the village, but I’m not sure about Klein Matterhorn (the cable car station on the summit). There’s a “Gravity Park” up there. This is their Facebook page. I’m sure they can answer your question.

    Have fun!
