    Hi,

If we purchase a Half Fare card and get a Swiss Family Card, do children < 16 still pay for cablecars? (we are staying in Lauterbrunnen).

    Thanks,

    Lisa

    Hi Lisa, welcome to MySwissAlps!

Children under 16 travel along for free everywhere where the Swiss Half Fare Card is valid (see here). The mode of transport doesn’t matter, so indeed cable cars are free as well.

    Enjoy your stay!

    Thanks Annika,

That helps in my decision to buy the Half Fare card as we will be spending 3 days travelling high in the Alps.

    Hi Lisa,

That’s great! Please see here for purchase options. Currently the easiest and cheapest option is http://www.swissrailways.com/ en, where you can pick the “Online Ticket” delivery option. You’ll receive the card through e-mail to print it at home, and you can immediately use it once in Switzerland.
