    Hi ,

my family(2 adults and child, age 12) will be arriving at Basel on 24th Jun. I plan to Travel by train as follows:

24th Jun – Basel to Lucerne around 2 pm (staying at Lucerne).

25th Jun – Lucerne to Mt Titlis round Trip,

26th – Lucerne to Jungfrau round trip.

27th Lucerne to Interlaken one way(staying at Interlaken)

28th Jun – Interlaken to Zurich- one way (around 7am). Flight to Italy.

Should we book a four day swiss pass or would it be cheaper to take train tickets for each destination above?

Also, does the swiss pass work from the time of first trvel or does it expire at midnight on day 1?

    Thanks !

    Suzie

    Welcome to MySwissAlps, Suzie!

One of the rail passes will for sure be cheaper than getting regular, full fare train tickets. A 4 day Swiss Travel Pass for June 25-28, plus regular tickets or cheaper supersaver tickets (if available) for Basel-Lucerne on June 24, would work. The validity period of a Swiss Travel Pass is measured in dates, so the exact time of your first journey isn’t relevant; please see http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass/howtouse.

The Swiss Half Fare Card would be an alternative. It provides a 50% discount on all of your trips. If you want to find out which option is more economical, you’d have to make detailed calculations according to these guidelines.
