    Hi,

We are going to rent a car to tour Switzerland. We shall be based in Flims. We are thinking of doing a day trip on the following route:- Flims to Andermat to Devil’s bridge and then drive over to Aare Gorge and back. Is it difficult to drive along this route and do we need an expert guide to take us to these places? It will be in mid May, hence would the roads be closed at this time. Thank you.

    Hi Kumyong,

Have a look here at our traffic information page for up to date information. The pass you will be on is the Susten Pass which is partially open now but not due to open fully until June 9 (+/- one week).

It is about 3 hours one way if the roads are open. I wouldn’t count on being able to drive this route however in mid-May.
It is always easier to travel by train in Switzerland if at all possible.

    Lucas
