    • We are in the process of deciding between first class or second class Swiss travel pass. I want to know if it will be possible to travel on a selected journeys by up grading the second class pass for those journeys ? If yes what is the process particularly for Bernina, Glacier and Golden pass trains? How much will it cost?
    • if we want to travel on Bernina, Glacier and Golden pass by first class rest by second class what do you suggest we buy first class or second class Swiss travel pass ?
    • does it make difference on the cruse between first class and second class Swiss travel pass ?

Hi Jagrut and welcome to MySwissAlps!

Here is a page on the differences between 1st and 2nd class on Swiss trains (and how to upgrade). Typically, I don’t think it is worth the cost, except, of course on some Panorama trains as you mentioned, it can be nice to be in 1st class.

Read about The Glacier Express, Bernina Express and Golden Pass lines and you can see the ticket costs for them – at the train station you can upgrade to 1st class by paying the difference in the ticket prices for that route.

    Regards,
    Lucas

That depends. How many days will your Swiss Travel Pass be for? What other trips do you plan to do, including transferring with luggage between towns? What time of the year will you be travelling?

Both first class and second class Swiss Travel Passes provide free travel on boats. (There is also a small surcharge on Lake Zürich for all passengers). Boats often have a separate area for first class passengers, usually on the upper deck, and there may also be a separate restaurant for first class passengers.
