    Hopefully a last query!

We have purchased the Swiss Travel Ticket Combi, three adult tickets. We are rather confused as to whether we have to have these validated before we travel.Have copied this from the website and am still unclear!

“ValidationYou need to make sure that the Swiss Transfer Ticket is valid beforeyou start traveling. Depending on where you’ve purchased it, one of thevalidation (or: activation) processes below will apply:You can validate the ticket yourself. This is the case if thereis no area on the ticket that requires a stamp from the Swiss Railways, and if the start date of the ticket is already printed on it. You willneed to fill out a few details: usually the name and passport number ofthe traveler, and the country of residence;Your ticket needs to be validated by railway personnel. This isthe case if there is an area that requires a stamp from the SwissRailways, and if the start date of the ticket is not filled out yet. Youcan have the ticket validated at a staffed Swiss station or bypersonnel on board international trains bound for Switzerland”

Our tickets have no information printed so do we fill this in?

How do we know whether a stamp by Swiss Railways is needed?

Does this apply to the Half Fare Card although this has the start & expiry date printed on it?

Thanks in advance for your help!

    Hi Fleurette,

From which website did you buy your pass? And which exact pass did you buy, as you mentioned Swiss Transfer Ticket Combi in the title of the thread, and Swiss Travel Ticket Combi in the text. If you can attach a scan of the pass to your reply we can have a look at it. Thanks!

    Hi Arno

We bought our tickets from the STC website. They are the Swiss Transfer Ticket Combi (not Travel ticket).

Hope that this may do the trick!

Thanks for the picture Fleurette. The passes from STC don’t need to be validated by rail staff. You can fill out the fields yourself before boarding the first train:

    • Name/vorname: surname/first name
    • Land: country of residence
    • Pass/id-nr: passport number
    • Tag/jour and Monat/mois: day and month. This is where you fill out the day and month of your first transfer day (under 1) and your last transfer day (under 2). The last day can be filled out later, but before you board your first train that day.

I assume you received a separate Swiss Half Fare Card? Even if the date is printed on it, there are probably a few blank fields like the ones above you need to fill out.
