Hello,

I’m going to Basel with my boyfriend for 4 days in February, and we would like to spend a day exploring a mountain. I just don’t know which is worth most? Which mountain would you pick if you only had 1 day to explore a bit nature in Switzerland.

Welcome to MySwissAlps! I’d go to Mount Rigi. There’s much more to see/do there on and around the mountain. It can be a varied trip by boat and train and even cable car, plus two sides of the mountain to go up and down. Please find details here: http://www.myswissalps.com/rigi.

Harder Kulm funicular doesn’t operate in February so you can rule that out.

Rigi is a nice varied option as Arno describes.

Another alternative is to go to Lauterbrunnen. From Lauterbrunnen a very nice circuit to do is to Grütschalp (cable car), Mürren (train), Gimmelwald (cable car), Stechelberg (cable car), Lauterbrunnen (bus). From Mürren you can easily visit Schilthorn (don’t miss The Thrill Walk at Birg). Once back at Lauterbrunnen you could pop up to Wengen. A Saver Day Pass would cover all your travel costs except for Schilthorn. Covers trip to Rigi as well.

And do you know if the boat from Lucern to Weggis sails on sundays?

Yes the trains and boats involved in the round trip to Rigi operate every day. The second timetable is the one you want for the regular boat services to Weggis or Vitznau.
