    Hi,
    We are planning to have easy walking to see all villages and mountains around Beatenbucht and Niederhorn area. But my husband had knee surgery before so we can walk on flat level and not longer than 40 mins. Can you please recommend nice walk route with scenery?
    Thank you

    Hi Sonya. Here are some options:

    • walk over the ridge at Niederhorn in the direction of the Gemmenalphorn, and simply return at any point where the path becomes uncomfortable. This is relatively flat, but it still is a mountain path, so I’m not sure whether your husband is up to this or not.
    • you can make lovely and fairly flat strolls between the villages at the northern shore of Lake Thun: Hünibach, Hilterfingen, Oberhofen, etcetera. You can get to your starting point by bus and hop on at another bus stop in any of the villages as soon as you’ve had enough. The hiking paths don’t exacly follow the flat lake shore, so some moderate climbing and descending may be involved;
    • a flat hike can be made on the southern side of the lake between Spiez and Faulensee. Don’t start or end at the railway station of Spiez, as that’s higher up, but at the Spiez boat dock. This route is a bit off from Beatenbucht and the Niederhorn though.
