Can anyone give me information about hiking from Wengen to Obersteinberg? What trail? How long will it take? We are spending the night, so we have all day to get there. Thanks!

How long it will take you depends entirely on your alpine hiking experience level.

How accustomed are you to hiking 1) at altitude, and 2) up fairly steep inclines with uneven surfaces.

If you give us this information we can be most helpful.

Hi, Kim-We have hiked from Stechelberg to Obersteinberg and did just fine. It took us about 2-3 hours. We took the train and then bus from Wengen to Stechelberg. This time we thought we might add on Wengen to Stechelberg if the hike wasn’t too long. Thanks for the information.

    Got it.

Wengen to Lauterbrunnen = approx 1.5 hours. Of course, this is all downhill but steep in places.

Lauterbrunnen to Stechelberg = approx 1.5 hours, flat

If you want to make the walk longer, you could walk from Wengen to Trummelbach either via Mary’s cafe or via Almend. I think the walk is open again – it was closed a couple of years ago because of concern about the state of one of the glaciers above! You would need to check locally before setting out. That would take you about 4 hours to Trummelbach. You would obviously need to add that time to the 2-3 hours from Stechelberg to Obersteinberg.
