Hello. I will be visiting Switzerland this November. I am finding the accommodation that is close to the alps but easily accessible by public transport.

Anyone knows or have stayed in any Airbnb that has amazing view? Can I get some recommendations?

    Thanks!

    Regards,
    Zakuan

    Hi Zakuan,

could you tell us a bit more about your holiday? How long are you staying? Are you coming to Switzerland for the first time?

Switzerland has a very good rail system, there are even villages that can be reached by trains and not by cars.

Usually first time visitors are going to the Jungfrau region (http://www.myswissalps.com/ju ngfrauregion), or to (Zermatt http://www.myswissalps.com/ze rmatt) or to Lucerne (http://www.myswissalps.com/la kelucerne). These are the most popular regions, if you are seeking mountains. All of them are easily reachable by train.

Regarding the AirBnB, to be honest, we do not really recommend it, learn about the disadvantages of it: http://www.myswissalps.com/ac commodation/airbnb.

If you have decided where you are heading, I am happy to show your lists of accommodation opportunities in the area. You will find everywhere in the Alps accommodation with a breathtaking view.

@Ildiko – can you help me in suggesting budget hotels with central and good locations and hopefully some nice views at Lucerne and Luterbrunnen/Wengen. We are planning to stay for 1 week and in June 2020

You could consider Lake Lucerne and stay somewhere at Mount Rigi.

If you like public transport there are car free spots, easy to be reached by Rigi Bahn (plus boat from Lucerne), eg Mittlerschwanden.

    Hello Ildiko.

    Thanks for the info.

I will be visiting Switzerland from Nov 13 – 16. I will arrive by train at Zurich HB early in the morning 7:30 AM and will be flying out on Nov 16 from Geneva at 12:50 PM.

I will be having Day pass for three days from Nov 13 – 15. Thus, I planned to be in Geneve late evening on Nov 15. I already booked a hotel in Geneve (Nov 15 – 16) and will receive a Public Transport card provided by the hotel. So on Nov 16, even the Day pass has expired I can still use the public transport for free.

Now I am still thinking where to base myself for the remaining two nights (Nov 13 & 14). I probably won’t be doing mountain top visit because I will be on budget. Last year I did Gornergrat and last two years I visited Titlis.

Where else can I go to see the Alps if I don’t want to spend money to go to Mountain top? I am thinking to visit Mürren and Wengen. The pass will be valid for public transport to both villages. Also I might do mount Rigi or Bernina Express as well as it is included in the pass. But depends on if I have enough time.

Anywhere else can I get an unforgettable views of the mountains?

    Thanks!!

    Hey, Gramels,

i see you’re responding to many posts by advertising your place(s) which appear to be near the Mt Rigi area. Is that correct?

Mittlerschwanden? Thats the name of a train stop of Rigi Bahn and a part of Vitznau car free with a great view. There are some holiday places to rent, one is mine which I rent out some times.
