Zurich day pass only valid on date of purchase?

I bought a day pass on 24.07.17 to travel from Wilchingen to Zurich all zones.

In the past the day pass used to be date and time stamped and could be used within a 24-hour period.

I have noticed that the pass I bought on 24.7.17 was not time-stamped. Does this mean that it can now only be used on the date of purchase?

    Thank you

    Hi Beantree1,

Day passes don’t need to be time-stamped normally. It should only be valid for the day of purchase…but the date of purchase should be on the pass.

    Hello Beantree,

We bought the Zurich 24 hour pass earlier this month and when we went to use it for a boat ride on Lake Zurich, for 5 SF, the boat ticket seller said she couldn’t accept it until it was date stamped. Fortunately there was a ticket machine close by and when we looked closely we saw that there was a place to buy the ticket and a separate place to date stamp it. So we date stamped it at noon instead of 9:00. We had no idea that it was a two step process, but now we do!

    Hi Mvmomcat,

Was your pass the ZurichCARD by any chance? It includes museums entrance as well. This one indeed needs to be stamped. At least the last time I used it.

Yes, it probably was the Zurich Card, so many options.

    Hi Beantree1,

Yes, so that explains it. Your pass was dated when you purchased it, so no need for a stamp. Mvmomcat had another passes which was not dated.
